A Deck You Present and a Deck You Email Are Two Different Documents. Most Companies Build One

In the room, a slide with six words and one image is excellent, because you are the narration. Emailed afterwards, that same slide says nothing. Then it gets forwarded to the person who decides, who was never in the room, and your deck has to carry the whole argument on its own.

Presentation design is the design of a deck around the job it has to do: presented live, read alone, or both, in a file your team can keep editing. We cover corporate presentation design services from the slide narrative through to a working master template. Presentation design services in Delhi in person, and across India and overseas remotely.

One deck, five situations
Presented in the room✓ works, you narrate it
The same file, emailed after✗ six words a slide, no context
Forwarded to whoever decides✗ no narrator, no notes
Opened on a phone✗ 9pt footnotes
Edited by your team next quarter✗ layout breaks on slide three
Illustrative, and the normal life of a corporate deck. Four of these five happen after you have left the room.

Working Since January 2007

Swaranjit Singh has worked in design since 2007, including fifteen years leading brand, design and digital inside a corporate investigation group, where decks went to clients, regulators and boards and had to survive being read without a presenter.

We Build the Template, Not Just the Slides

A master template with real slide layouts, so your team can add slides next quarter without the design falling apart. Most decks degrade within two months because this was never built.

Published Pricing

Three tiers with figures on the page, below. Presentation work is usually quoted per slide, which sounds precise and hides the fact that slides are not equivalent units of work.

We Will Tell You If the Problem Is the Content

A good share of decks we are asked to fix are structurally fine and argued badly. Redesigning those makes them prettier and no more persuasive, and we will say so before quoting.

The difference two versions make

What Changes When the Deck Knows Its Job

One Deck Doing Two Jobs

  • ✗One deck trying to do both jobsToo dense to present and too thin to read alone. It is the single most common fault in corporate decks, and it comes from never deciding which job the file has.
  • ✗The slide that is really a documentEleven bullet points at 11pt because it has to work when emailed. Nobody reads it in the room and nobody reads it afterwards either.
  • ✗A template nobody can useBeautiful slides built as one-off artwork with no master layouts. The first person who adds a slide breaks the grid, and within a quarter the deck looks assembled by committee.
  • ✗Charts that hide the pointDefault chart colours, a legend, and no indication of what the reader is supposed to conclude. The number that matters is in there somewhere.
  • ✗Unreadable on the device it is opened onFootnotes at 9pt and a dense table, opened on a phone between meetings, which is where a forwarded deck is usually first seen.
VS

A Presented Version and a Sent Version

  • ✓A decision about the job, firstPresented, sent, or both. If both, two versions from one master rather than a compromise that serves neither.
  • ✓A narrative before any slide is designedThe argument written as a sequence of claims, one per slide, agreed before design. This is where decks get shorter and more persuasive at the same time.
  • ✓A master template your team can useReal slide layouts in PowerPoint or Google Slides, with placeholders, so new slides inherit the design instead of breaking it.
  • ✓Charts that state their conclusionOne point per chart, the relevant series highlighted, and a headline that says what to conclude rather than what the axis is.
  • ✓A sent version that stands aloneEither a denser variant or proper speaker notes, so the deck still argues your case when it reaches someone you never met.

Why this matters now

What the Research Actually Says

We publish sources instead of adjectives. The first two are observed behaviour rather than opinion, measured on decks actually shared with investors, which makes them unusually useful here. Two caveats we would rather state than bury: DocSend measures decks shared through its own platform and does not publish a sample size on that page, and the third figure is a survey of LinkedIn members. Read all three as directional.

Under 3 min

The total attention a pitch deck typically gets from an investor

DocSend, which hosts and tracks documents shared with investors, reports that investors spend under three minutes on a pitch deck, across decks that run to roughly twenty slides and average about fifty words a slide. That is observed behaviour rather than a survey. It is measured on decks shared through DocSend’s own platform and the page does not state a sample size, so we flag that.

4+ min

How long successful pre-seed decks held attention, against 1 minute 30 for unsuccessful ones

From DocSend’s 2020 pre-seed data: decks that went on to raise held investors for over four minutes, while decks that did not were put down at about a minute and a half. The gap is attention, not beauty. It is the clearest argument we know of for fixing the order of the argument before fixing the typography.

71%

Of hidden decision-makers have little or no interaction with sales

Edelman and LinkedIn surveyed 1,934 business executives in March and April 2025. 71 percent of the people influencing a decision inside the buying organisation said they have little or no contact with the seller. They meet your deck, not you, which is the whole argument for building a version that reads without a presenter.

43%

Of failed startups were found to have poor product-market fit

CB Insights analysed 431 venture backed companies that shut down since 2023, identifying failure reasons for 385 of them, published March 2026. Relevant to an investor deck because it tells you what a reader is actually screening for. No amount of slide design substitutes for evidence on that question, and experienced investors go looking for it on slide three.

Five Checks on the Deck You Already Have

Five checks on the deck you already have, about twenty minutes. The second one is the one that usually settles the brief.

  • Read only the slide headlines in order and see whether they form an argument
  • Send the deck to someone who was not in the room and ask what you do
  • Open it on a phone and find the smallest piece of text
  • Ask a colleague to add one new slide and watch what breaks
  • Count how many charts tell you what to conclude

The first check is the fastest diagnostic in presentation design. If the headlines alone read as an argument, the deck is structurally sound and may only need design. If they read as a list of topics, no amount of design will fix it, and the honest work is rewriting the narrative. The fourth check tells you whether you have a template or a pile of artwork: if adding a slide means copying an old one and deleting its contents, you do not have a template.

Our process

A Seven Step Presentation Design Process

01

Establish the Job and the Audience

Presented, sent, or both. Investors, a client, a board, a conference room. This decides slide count, density and whether we build one version or two, and it is a ten minute conversation that changes everything downstream.

02

Write the Headline Sequence

Every slide gets one claim, written as a full sentence, in order. Read alone, those headlines must form the argument. This is the step that makes decks shorter, and it is done before anything is designed.

03

Audit the Evidence

For each claim, what actually supports it. This is where we find the slide with no proof behind it and the chart that does not say what the headline claims. Uncomfortable and worth it.

04

Design the Master Template

Real slide layouts with placeholders in PowerPoint or Google Slides: title, section, one-point, two-column, chart, data table, quote, closing. Built so new slides inherit the design.

05

Design the Slides

The deck laid out against the template, with charts rebuilt to make one point each and the key series highlighted. Two rounds of revision, with the reasoning for each change recorded.

06

Build the Sent Version

Either a denser variant of the same deck or proper speaker notes, so it argues on its own when forwarded. Included from the Full Deck tier, and the deliverable most often missing elsewhere.

07

Hand Over So It Survives

Editable native files, the template installed as a theme, fonts handled, and a short note on which layout to use when. We would rather spend thirty minutes on this than have the deck decay by March.

Investor Deck, Sales Deck and Corporate Deck Are Three Different Documents

Three decks that get commissioned as though they were one thing. They have different audiences, different lengths and different jobs, and building the wrong one is the most common waste in this category.

We sell all three, so read the table with appropriate suspicion. The honest version: a corporate deck reused for years is usually the best value of the three, because it gets presented hundreds of times and nobody ever costs that properly. An investor deck is the most expensive per slide and the most justified, because the audience is scarce and the decision is large. If your deck is really a credentials document that happens to be in slides, a company profile may be the cheaper and better format, and we will say so.

What you get

What a Presentation Project Delivers

No line item that simply says slides. The master template and the sent version are the two deliverables most quotes leave out, and they are the two that decide whether the deck survives contact with your team.

Headline sequence

Every slide as one written claim, in order, agreed before design. Yours to keep even if you stop there, and it is the part that does most of the work.

Master template

Real slide layouts in PowerPoint or Google Slides with placeholders, so your team can add slides that inherit the design instead of breaking it.

Designed slide deck

The full deck laid out, with two rounds of revision and the reasoning for each change recorded.

Rebuilt charts and data visuals

One point per chart, the relevant series highlighted, headlines that state the conclusion rather than describing the axis.

The sent version

A denser variant or full speaker notes, so the deck still argues your case when it is forwarded to someone who was not there.

Icon and image set

Consistent icons and selected or sourced imagery, licensed, so the deck does not mix five visual styles.

Editable native files

Working .pptx or Google Slides, not a PDF or a flattened image per slide. You can change a number the night before.

Font and theme handling

The theme installed properly with fonts either embedded or substituted deliberately, so it does not reflow on someone else’s machine.

Short usage note

One page on which layout to use when, so the next person to touch the deck does not invent a sixth heading style.

Who This Is Built For

A deck earns its cost when a decision gets made from it, often by someone who was not in the room when you presented it.

Founders raising a round

Where the deck is read in under three minutes by people screening many of them, and the order of the argument matters more than the styling.

B2B sales teams losing deals after the meeting

The pitch goes well, the deck gets forwarded, and the deal stalls. Usually the sent version does not exist.

Companies whose deck is edited by everyone

Six versions in circulation, each with a different cover. A master template is the actual fix, not a redesign.

Manufacturers and exporters pitching overseas

Where the deck is often the whole relationship for weeks, read across time zones with no call attached.

Professional firms pitching to committees

Legal, consulting and advisory work where the decision is made by a group, and most of that group never meets you.

Teams presenting at conferences

Where the room is large, the slides are seen from the back, and the dense corporate deck is exactly the wrong document.

Anyone rebuilding a deck every quarter

Because there is no template. The recurring cost of that is almost always larger than building one properly once.

What actually changes

What Changes in the Business, Not Just the Slides

Not promises about winning pitches. These are the mechanical changes a properly built deck produces.

The deck still argues when you are not there

Because a sent version exists. This is the single highest-value change for any company whose deals are decided after the meeting.

New slides stop breaking the design

A real template with master layouts means the next person adds a slide instead of copying and deleting, which is how decks decay.

The argument gets shorter

Writing one claim per slide before designing typically removes a quarter of the deck, and what remains is easier to follow.

Nobody rebuilds the deck from scratch again

Which is usually the real recurring cost, paid quietly in your team’s evenings rather than in an invoice.

What a Standard Engagement Actually Looks Like

This is the shape of a typical Full Deck Design project. It is an illustration of how the work runs, not a case study, and no client results are implied by it.

Days 1 to 2

Scope call and job decision. Who sees it, presented or sent, and what it must achieve. Short, and it determines slide count and whether we build two versions.

Week 1

Headline sequence. Every slide as one claim, in order, argued and agreed. This is where the deck usually gets shorter and where most of the value is created.

Week 2

Evidence audit and template design. What supports each claim, and the master layouts built in your chosen format.

Week 3

Slide design. The deck laid out, charts rebuilt to make one point each, imagery and icons brought to one style.

Week 4

Revisions and the sent version. Two rounds of changes, then the denser variant or speaker notes so the deck stands alone.

Week 4 to 5

Handover. Native editable files, theme and fonts installed, and a short walk-through so the template actually gets used.

Published pricing

What Presentation Design Costs With Us

Published, because almost nobody in this category does. The cost is driven by whether the narrative needs writing, whether we build a reusable template, and whether you need a second version for sending. Not by slide count alone. Figures in INR with an approximate USD equivalent.

Deck Refresh and Template

INR 18,000 to 35,000
approx. USD 215 to 420

Your existing deck restyled onto a proper master template. Right when the argument is sound and the slides look assembled by six people.

  • ✓Master template with real slide layouts
  • ✓Existing deck restyled onto it
  • ✓Up to 15 slides
  • ✓Chart restyling, same data
  • ✓Editable native files
  • ✓One round of revision
  • ✓Short usage note
  • ✓1 to 2 weeks

Full Deck Design

INR 45,000 to 1,10,000
approx. USD 540 to 1,325

A deck built from the argument up, with both versions. The tier most sales and corporate decks need.

  • ✓Everything in Deck Refresh
  • ✓Headline sequence written with you
  • ✓Evidence audit against each claim
  • ✓Up to 25 slides designed
  • ✓Charts rebuilt to make one point each
  • ✓The sent version or full speaker notes
  • ✓Icon and image set, licensed
  • ✓Two rounds of revision
  • ✓3 to 5 weeks

Investor and Flagship Deck

INR 1,35,000 to 2,75,000
approx. USD 1,625 to 3,315

For raising, or for a deck that will be presented hundreds of times. Narrative work, data visualisation and rehearsal support included.

  • ✓Everything in Full Deck Design
  • ✓Narrative development across several sessions
  • ✓Data visualisation from your raw numbers
  • ✓Appendix deck for diligence questions
  • ✓Two sent variants, short and full
  • ✓Rehearsal review and slide-by-slide notes
  • ✓Three rounds of revision
  • ✓5 to 8 weeks

What actually moves the price: whether the narrative needs writing or already exists, whether charts are rebuilt from raw data, whether a reusable template is in scope, and whether you need a sent version. Not slide count on its own. One question worth asking anyone quoting you: do I get editable native files and a master template, or a PDF. A PDF means you are back here next quarter, paying again for a change you could have made yourself.

What We Will Not Promise You

Presentation design is easy to oversell, because the before and after looks dramatic and the outcome is attributed to the pitch. Here is what we will not claim.

  • ✗We will not promise the deck wins the pitchDecks support an argument. They do not create traction, fix pricing or substitute for a market. Anyone attributing a funding round or a closed deal to slide design is selling, and we would rather be the ones who said so.
  • ✗We will not promise investors will read all of itDocSend’s data puts typical attention at under three minutes across roughly twenty slides. Design can hold attention longer. It cannot force a reading, which is why the order of the argument matters more than the finish.
  • ✗We will not fix a weak argument with designIf the headline sequence does not hold together, a redesign makes it a prettier version of the same problem. We will tell you that at the first call, and the fix is writing, not styling.
  • ✗We will not design slides for data you have not gotPlaceholder charts become real charts that contradict the headline above them. Either supply the numbers or buy the tier where we work through them with you.
  • ✗We will not hand you a PDF and call it a deckYou will need to change a number the night before a meeting, and you should not have to call us to do it. Native editable files are standard at every tier.

Where to Start

Do the first self-check above before you contact anyone: read only your slide headlines, in order, and see whether they form an argument. It takes five minutes and it tells you whether you need design or writing, which is the difference between two quite different quotes. Then send us the deck you are using now, tell us who sees it, and whether you present it or send it.

Presentation Design Questions, Answered

How much does pitch deck design cost in India?

With us, restyling an existing deck onto a proper template runs INR 18,000 to 35,000, a full deck built from the argument up runs INR 45,000 to 1,10,000, and an investor or flagship deck runs INR 1,35,000 to 2,75,000, with USD equivalents in the pricing section above. Across the market, pitch deck design cost India wide ranges from a few thousand rupees for a template fill to several lakh for narrative-led investor work. The spread is mostly about whether anyone writes the argument or only styles the slides you already have. Before comparing quotes, decide which of those two you actually need, because they are different services at genuinely different prices.

How many slides should an investor deck have?

Twelve to twenty for the main deck, with a separate appendix for diligence questions. The reason is attention rather than convention: DocSend, which tracks documents shared with investors, reports under three minutes of total reading time across decks of roughly twenty slides. That is a few seconds a slide, so every slide has to earn its place. A practical structure for investor deck design: problem, solution, market, product, traction, business model, competition, team, and the ask. Traction is the slide that gets the most attention and it should come earlier than most founders place it. Put the detail an investor might ask about into an appendix rather than the main sequence, so the core argument stays short and the depth is there when wanted.

Do you write the content or only design it?

Both are available and they are priced differently, so it is worth being clear about which you need. At the Deck Refresh tier we design what you supply. From the Full Deck tier upward we write the headline sequence with you, which means every slide gets one claim, written as a full sentence, agreed before anything is designed. That is the part that makes decks shorter and more persuasive, and it is the part most studios skip. We do not invent your evidence. The numbers, the case studies and the proof have to come from you, and if a claim has nothing behind it we will point that out rather than design around it.

Can you work in our existing PowerPoint template?

Yes, and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth keeping. If your template has proper master layouts and a working theme, we design inside it and your team keeps everything they are used to. If it is what most corporate templates turn out to be, a title slide and a blank slide with a logo in the corner, then slides are being built by copying and deleting, which is why the deck looks inconsistent. In that case we rebuild the master properly and keep your existing colours, fonts and logo so nothing looks different to your team, it just stops breaking. Our PowerPoint presentation design services cover both, and we also work natively in Google Slides and Keynote.

Do you charge a presentation design price per slide?

No, and we would gently push back on the model. A presentation design price per slide is common in India, usually somewhere around INR 800 to 3,000 a slide, and it looks precise. The problem is that slides are not equivalent units of work: a section divider takes minutes, a rebuilt chart from raw data takes hours, and the headline sequence that makes the whole deck work is not a slide at all. Per-slide pricing therefore overcharges the simple slides, rushes the hard ones, and prices the most valuable part of the job at zero. We quote the project, publish the ranges, and tell you what moves the number.

What makes a good sales deck different from a corporate deck?

Length and posture. A sales deck design company will tell you the same thing: a sales deck is short, usually eight to fifteen slides, and it is about the prospect’s problem rather than your company. The common failure is opening with five slides of credentials before mentioning the buyer. A corporate deck is longer, covers the organisation, and gets reused across clients, partners and conferences for years, which makes the master template the critical deliverable. If you are using one deck for both, the sales conversation is carrying five slides it does not need, and that shows.

Should the deck I present be the same one I email?

Ideally not, and this is the single most useful change most companies can make. A presented deck is sparse, because you are the narration. A sent deck has to carry the argument alone, because it gets forwarded to people who were never in the room. In the 2025 Edelman and LinkedIn study, 71 percent of hidden decision-makers said they have little or no contact with the seller, so the forwarded version is often the only version that reaches the person deciding. The practical answer is one master deck with two outputs: the sparse version you present, and either a denser variant or a version with real speaker notes for sending. It is a small amount of extra work and it is included from the Full Deck tier.

How long does presentation design take?

One to two weeks for a refresh onto a template, three to five weeks for a full deck, and five to eight weeks for investor or flagship work. The variable is rarely design time. It is how quickly the headline sequence gets agreed and how long it takes to get real numbers for the charts. If you have a fixed date, a board meeting, a conference or an investor meeting, tell us at the first call and we will work backwards, including a buffer for the round of changes that always arrives two days before.

Can you rebuild our charts from raw data?

Yes, and it is usually where the biggest improvement sits. Most corporate charts are pasted from a spreadsheet with default colours, a full legend and no indication of what the reader should conclude. We rebuild them so each chart makes one point: the relevant series highlighted, the rest muted, and a headline that states the conclusion rather than naming the axis. Send the underlying numbers rather than a screenshot. If the data genuinely does not support the headline above it, we will tell you, which occasionally changes the slide and occasionally changes the argument.

Will the fonts break on someone else’s computer?

Not if it is handled, and it usually is not. A deck built with a font that only exists on the designer’s machine reflows the moment it is opened elsewhere, which is how carefully set slides arrive with text overflowing. We either embed the fonts where the format allows, or deliberately choose a system font that is present everywhere, and we tell you which approach we used. For decks that will be emailed widely, we generally recommend the second, because an embedded font still fails in some web viewers and mobile apps.

Do you work in Google Slides or only PowerPoint?

Both, and Keynote. Tell us at the start, because it is not a late conversion: templates, masters and fonts behave differently in each, and a deck designed in one and exported to another loses layout fidelity. If your team collaborates in Google Workspace, we build natively in Google Slides so the master layouts actually work for them. If the deck is going to be emailed as an attachment to large companies, PowerPoint is usually the safer choice.

We are a startup. Is this different from startup branding?

Yes, and the overlap is worth explaining. Our startup branding tiers include a pitch deck template as part of establishing the identity, which is the right answer when you are launching and need the basics in place. This page is the deeper version: narrative development, evidence audit, rebuilt data visualisation and an appendix deck. If you are pre-launch and need a competent deck alongside a logo and a site, buy the startup package. If you are raising and the deck is the thing that decides it, buy the investor tier here.

Do you work with companies outside Delhi?

Yes. We are a pitch deck designer Delhi NCR based, in Vikaspuri in West Delhi, working in person across Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad, and remotely across the rest of India, the UAE, the UK and the US. Presentation work suits remote delivery particularly well, because the heavy parts are the headline sequence and the evidence audit, both of which happen on calls and in shared documents. For rehearsal support we work over video, which is usually how the real presentation will be delivered anyway.

How do I choose a pitch deck design agency?

Ask three questions. Do you write the narrative or only design what I send. Do I receive editable native files and a master template, or a PDF. And can I see a deck you built that someone else has since edited without it falling apart. The third question is the revealing one, because it tests whether they build templates or artwork. When comparing any pitch deck design agency India wide, be wary of per-slide pricing and of portfolios made entirely of beautiful single slides, since a deck is a sequence and a single slide tells you almost nothing about whether the argument worked.

Is it worth paying to hire a presentation designer for an internal deck?

Usually not for a one-off internal update, and we would say so. Where it becomes worth it is the template rather than the deck: if your team builds decks every week, a proper master template pays for itself quickly in time not spent nudging text boxes. The other case is a deck that will be presented many times over a year, where the cost per use is tiny and the compounding is real. For a single internal status update, use the template you have and spend the money elsewhere. When you do hire a presentation designer, buy the reusable part first.

Send Us the Deck You Are Using Now

Send us the deck you are using now, tell us who sees it and whether you present it or send it. We will tell you on one call whether it needs a redesign, a template, a rewrite, or just a second version for sending.
