SEO Takes Longer Than Anyone Selling It Will Tell You
Ahrefs looked at around two million newly published pages. Within a year, 5.7 percent had reached the top ten for even one keyword. Anyone promising you page one in three months has either not read that, or is counting on you not asking.
We run search engine optimization services on a longer, duller and more honest basis: fix what is technically holding the site back, match pages to what people actually search, update what already half works, and report on enquiries rather than a ranking chart. SEO services in Delhi and across India, with the same approach either way.
| Impressions up 240% | ✗ mostly brand searches |
| 180 keywords ranking | ✗ 94% past page five |
| Traffic up 60% | ✗ one unrelated blog post |
| Enquiries from organic | ✗ two, same as last year |
| Which pages produce them | ✗ not tracked |

The difference a plan makes
What Changes When SEO Is Tied to Enquiries Instead of Rankings
Without a Page-Level Plan
- ✗Reports nobody can act onA monthly keyword position table with no statement of what changed, why, or what happens next.
- ✗A keyword list disconnected from the businessTerms chosen for volume rather than intent, so the traffic that does arrive was never going to buy anything.
- ✗Technical fixes that never shipAn audit was delivered in March. The issues are still there in November because nobody owned the implementation.
- ✗Content published and abandonedNew posts every month while the pages that nearly rank, and would convert, sit untouched for two years.
- ✗No idea which pages produce enquiriesOrganic traffic is one number in a dashboard, so every decision about what to do next is a guess.
With One in Place
- ✓A short list of pages that matterUsually between six and fifteen. Those get the attention, instead of spreading effort across two hundred URLs.
- ✓Intent before volumeQueries chosen because the person searching could become a customer, even when the monthly volume looks unimpressive.
- ✓Fixes that actually get deployedWe implement rather than recommend, or we work directly with whoever can. An audit nobody acts on is a cost, not a service.
- ✓Existing pages improved firstPages ranking between 8 and 25 are the cheapest wins on any site. We work those before writing anything new.
- ✓Enquiries attributed to pagesForms, calls and goals configured so you know which pages earn, and the reporting says so in plain language.
Why this matters now
What the Research Actually Says
We publish sources instead of adjectives. All four of these are measurements from published research, two of them inconvenient for us, and the sources are listed underneath so you can check them.
5.7%
Of newly published pages reached the top ten within a year
Ahrefs studied roughly two million pages first seen by its crawler a year earlier. Only 5.7 percent ranked in the top ten for even one keyword in that time, and just 0.3 percent did so for a high-volume keyword. Of the minority that made it, most took between 61 and 182 days.
2+ yrs
Is the average age of a page ranking in Google’s top ten
From the same Ahrefs research. Pages at position one average almost three years old. This is the single most useful number for setting expectations, and the one most agencies leave out of the pitch.
8%
Of Google visits with an AI summary included a click on a result
Pew Research Center tracked the browsing of 900 US adults across 68,879 Google searches in March 2025. Where an AI summary appeared, users clicked a result link in 8 percent of visits. Where it did not, 15 percent. Nearly twice as likely without one.
1%
Of visits with an AI summary included a click on a link inside it
Also Pew, same dataset. The summary answers the question and the citation is rarely followed, which is why being the cited source matters more than it used to, and why ranking alone is no longer the whole job.
Sources: Ahrefs, How Long Does It Take to Rank in Google, based on two datasets of approximately two million keywords and two million pages. Pew Research Center, Google Users Are Less Likely to Click on Links When an AI Summary Appears in the Results, published 22 July 2025, browsing data from 900 US adults covering March 2025. The first two numbers are inconvenient for anyone selling SEO, which is why we lead with them.
Run This Check on Your Own Search Console Tonight
Open Google Search Console, set the date range to the last three months, and check these five things. It takes ten minutes and tells you more than most paid audits.
- Sort queries by impressions and count how many are just your company name
- Search your three most profitable services and see where those pages actually sit
- Count pages with impressions but zero clicks
- Ask what specifically changed on the site in the last 90 days
- Ask ChatGPT to recommend firms in your category and see whether you are named
If most impressions are brand searches, your SEO is reporting demand you already had. If your money pages are not in the top twenty, that is the whole project, not the blog. If nothing changed on the site in 90 days, you are paying for reporting rather than work. And if an assistant cannot name you, that is a separate discipline: see AEO and GEO or run the AI visibility checker.
Our process
A Seven Step SEO Process
Audit and Baseline
Technical crawl, Search Console history, what already ranks, what converts, and what your competitors rank for that you do not. We write down the starting numbers so progress can be argued about with evidence later.
Keyword to Page Mapping
Every target query assigned to exactly one page. This step alone fixes more sites than any amount of content, because the most common problem we find is three pages competing for the same term and none of them winning.
Technical Fixes
Indexation, crawl waste, site speed, internal linking, schema, duplicate and thin pages, redirect chains. Shipped, not just listed. This is where the first measurable movement usually comes from.
On-Page Work
Titles, headings, structure and content depth on the pages that matter, starting with anything already ranking between 8 and 25 because those move fastest.
Content, Where It Earns
Briefs for pages that answer real buying questions, prioritised by intent rather than volume. We would rather publish four pages a quarter that earn enquiries than twelve that fill a calendar.
Authority and Citations
Digital PR, genuine mentions, directory and citation hygiene, and the local signals that decide the map pack. No bought link packages, for reasons in the limits section below.
Measure, Report, Adjust
Monthly: what changed, what it did, what is next. Quarterly: a harder look at whether the strategy is working, including the possibility that it is not.
SEO, Google Ads and AI Search Visibility Are Different Jobs
Three different ways to get found, with different speeds, costs and failure modes. They are not substitutes, and if your situation calls for ads rather than SEO right now we will say so even though ads are the smaller engagement for us.
| SEO | Google Ads | AI search visibility | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time to first result | Three to twelve months | Same day | Weeks, and less predictable |
| Cost shape | Monthly fee, compounds | Pay per click, stops when you stop | Mostly one-off structural work |
| What happens if you stop | Decays slowly over months | Stops immediately | Holds until competitors catch up |
| Best for | Steady demand you can wait for | Urgent demand, testing, seasonal pushes | Being named when buyers ask an assistant |
| Main failure mode | Paying for reports instead of work | Spending on terms that never convert | Treated as a bolt-on rather than structure |
We sell all three, so read the table with appropriate suspicion. The honest version: if you need enquiries this quarter, SEO is the wrong instrument and Google Ads is the right one, even though the ads engagement is usually smaller for us. SEO earns its place when you can fund twelve months and want the cost per enquiry to keep falling after that. AI search visibility is not a replacement for either, and the Pew numbers above are why it is now worth its own work: see AEO and GEO optimisation.
What you get
What an SEO Retainer Delivers
No line item that simply says SEO. This is what is actually done each month and handed over.
Technical audit and fix log
What was wrong, what was fixed, on what date. The log is the deliverable, not the audit.
Keyword to page map
One page per target query, with the competing pages resolved.
On-page optimisation
Titles, headings, structure and depth on the pages that can realistically move.
Content briefs or content
What to write, in what order, and why. Writing is included at Standard and above.
Internal linking
The cheapest ranking lever on most established sites, and the most neglected.
Schema and structured data
So search engines and assistants can read what you are without guessing.
Local and Google Business Profile
Where you serve an area: profile, categories, citations and reviews process. See local SEO.
Monthly reporting on enquiries
Which pages and queries produced contact, what changed, what is next. Two pages, in plain language.
Full account access
Search Console, Analytics and tool access in your name, with the history intact if you leave.
Who This Is Built For
SEO pays back fastest where the enquiry is worth real money, where people search before they buy, and where you can wait six to twelve months for it.
Manufacturers and industrial firms
Long specification-led searches with few competitors bidding. Often the best SEO economics of any sector we work in.
B2B and professional services
Where one enquiry can be worth lakhs, so even modest search volume justifies the work.
Healthcare practices and clinics
Local intent, map pack visibility and condition-led questions. Heavily dependent on local SEO rather than national rankings.
Education
Seasonal admission cycles where the work has to be done months before the demand arrives.
Ecommerce brands
Category and product page structure, which is a different discipline from content SEO. See ecommerce SEO.
Local service businesses
Where the map pack is most of the opportunity and a national ranking strategy would be a waste of money.
Businesses burned by a previous agency
You have twelve months of invoices and no change. The first job is working out whether anything was actually done, and we will tell you plainly if it was not.
What actually changes
What Changes in the Business, Not Just the Report
Not promises about traffic. These are the mechanical changes a properly run retainer produces, and why they happen.
You know which pages earn
Attribution configured at the start, so budget goes to the pages that produce enquiries rather than the ones with the nicest chart.
Technical debt actually clears
Fixes ship with a date against them. Most sites we take over have an audit from two years ago with nothing done.
Content stops being published blind
Each page is commissioned against a query and an intent, so the archive stops filling with posts nobody searches for.
The cost per enquiry falls over time
That is the whole argument for SEO over ads. It only holds if the work compounds, which is why the first six months look slow.
What the First Twelve Months Actually Look Like
This is the shape of a typical Standard retainer. It is an illustration of how the work runs, not a case study, and no client results are implied by it. The honest version of an SEO timeline is mostly uneventful for the first quarter.
Month 1
Audit, baseline and keyword to page mapping. Access set up, tracking fixed, starting numbers recorded. You get the audit, the map and the fix list ranked by impact. Visible ranking change this month: usually none, and anyone promising otherwise is guessing.
Month 2
Technical fixes shipped, starting with indexation and speed. On-page work begins on the pages already ranking between 8 and 25. First movement sometimes appears late this month, usually on those near-miss pages.
Month 3
On-page work continues, internal linking restructured, schema added, first content briefs written. Search Console usually shows impression growth on target queries by now even when positions have not moved much.
Months 4 to 6
Content publishing and authority work. This is where most retainers get cancelled, typically one to two months before the curve turns. Expect positions to move in steps rather than smoothly.
Months 7 to 12
Compounding. The pages fixed in months two and three mature, new content starts ranking, and cost per enquiry begins to fall. This is the period that justifies the earlier ones.
After that
Maintenance and expansion: defending what ranks, updating what is decaying, and moving into adjacent queries. Plus a quarterly conversation about whether to keep going, which should always be a real question.
Published pricing
What SEO Costs With Us
Ask about SEO packages and pricing in India and you will be quoted INR 5,000 a month by one firm and INR 2,00,000 by another for what sounds identical. The cheap end is almost always a report generator. As an SEO agency India wide, here is what we charge, in INR with an approximate USD equivalent, so you can judge the range before you hire an SEO agency in Delhi rather than after. There is a fuller breakdown on SEO services cost in India.
Starter
A small site with local or narrow intent. Honest scope: technical hygiene, a handful of pages and local visibility, not a content programme.
- ✓Technical fixes and monitoring
- ✓Up to six priority pages optimised
- ✓Google Business Profile and local citations
- ✓Monthly reporting on enquiries
- ✓Content briefs, you write
- ✓Rolling, one month notice
Standard
The common choice. Technical, on-page, content and authority work running together with enough hours to actually ship.
- ✓Everything in Starter
- ✓Fifteen to twenty-five priority pages
- ✓Content written, two to four pages a month
- ✓Internal linking and schema programme
- ✓Digital PR and citation building
- ✓Quarterly strategy review
- ✓Rolling, one month notice
Full
For large sites, ecommerce catalogues, multiple locations or international targeting, where the work is as much coordination as optimisation.
- ✓Everything in Standard
- ✓Large site or catalogue architecture
- ✓Multi-location or multi-country targeting
- ✓Developer coordination for deeper fixes
- ✓AEO and GEO work included
- ✓Monthly working session with your team
- ✓Rolling, one month notice
A one-off SEO audit without a retainer is INR 25,000 to 60,000 depending on site size, and it is a legitimate way to start if you want to know where you stand before committing to anything monthly. What moves the retainer price: site size, how much is already broken, whether we write the content, how many locations or languages, and how competitive your terms genuinely are. On monthly SEO retainer cost India wide, treat anything under about INR 15,000 with suspicion: at that price nobody is doing the implementation, and you are buying a dashboard.
What We Will Not Promise You
No service is oversold more than this one. Here is what we will not say to win the work, including the things our competitors will happily promise you.
- ✗We will not guarantee a number one rankingGoogle’s own published guidance on hiring an SEO says no one can guarantee a top ranking, and anybody offering it is either excluding every competitive term or relying on you not checking. We will give you a realistic range and the reasoning behind it.
- ✗We will not promise a traffic or revenue numberWe can commit to the work, the priorities and the reporting. The result also depends on your competitors, your offer and algorithm changes none of us control.
- ✗We will not buy linksPaid link packages work until the day they do not, and the cleanup costs more than the rankings were worth. If a competitor is outranking you on bought links, we will say so rather than match them.
- ✗We will not report vanity metricsImpressions and total keyword counts go up on their own and prove nothing. If the enquiries have not moved in six months, the report will say that in the first line.
- ✗We will not take the work if SEO is wrong for youIf your enquiries have to arrive this quarter, or your margin cannot fund twelve months, ads or outreach is the honest recommendation and we will make it.
Where to Start
Start with the free SEO checker on your most important page, then give us read-only access to Search Console and Analytics. On one call we will tell you what is actually limiting you and what the realistic timeline is. If the answer is that your site is technically fine and the problem is the offer or the market, we will tell you that instead of selling you a retainer.
SEO Questions, Answered
How much do SEO services cost per month in India?
Realistically, INR 18,000 to 30,000 a month for a small site with local intent, INR 35,000 to 70,000 for a proper programme covering technical, on-page, content and authority work, and INR 85,000 upward for large sites, ecommerce catalogues or multi-location targeting. A one-off audit is INR 25,000 to 60,000. Below about INR 15,000 a month the arithmetic does not work: after reporting and tool costs there are not enough hours left to implement anything, which is why cheap retainers produce charts rather than changes.
How long does SEO take to show results?
Three to six months for the first meaningful movement and nine to twelve for the compounding to be obvious, assuming the work actually ships. The evidence supports the slow version: Ahrefs found only 5.7 percent of newly published pages reached the top ten for any keyword within a year, and that the average top ten page is over two years old. Existing pages ranking between 8 and 25 move fastest, often within six to ten weeks, which is why we start there rather than with new content. Anyone promising page one in ninety days on competitive terms is either not planning to deliver it or is targeting terms nobody searches.
What is included in a monthly SEO retainer?
In ours: technical fixes implemented rather than listed, on-page work on a defined set of priority pages, a keyword to page map so your own pages stop competing, internal linking and schema, content briefs or written content depending on tier, local and Google Business Profile work where relevant, authority and citation building, and monthly reporting on which pages and queries produced enquiries. What is not included at any tier is a link buying budget. Ask any agency for their fix log from last month rather than their report, because that is the part that tells you whether work is happening.
Is SEO still worth it in 2026?
For most businesses yes, but for a narrower set of reasons than three years ago, and the honest answer has changed. Pew Research found that when Google shows an AI summary, users click a result in 8 percent of visits versus 15 percent without one, and only 1 percent click a link inside the summary. So informational content that exists purely to catch a question is worth much less than it was. What still works: pages with commercial intent where people compare suppliers and then contact one, local search where the map pack decides who gets called, and the structural work that also makes you citable by assistants. If your SEO plan is a blog calendar answering general questions, that plan is in trouble. If it is built around the pages that sell, it is not.
Can you guarantee a number one ranking?
No, and nobody can. Google states in its own guidance on hiring an SEO that no one can guarantee a number one ranking. What we can do is tell you honestly whether a term is winnable for you, roughly how long it should take, and what it depends on. If an agency guarantees rankings, ask which exact keywords are covered: the answer is usually long-tail phrases with almost no search volume that you would have ranked for anyway.
What happens if we stop SEO after six months?
The technical fixes and the improved pages stay, and so does whatever ranking they earned, so you do not go back to zero. What stops is the compounding, and positions decay gradually over the following months as competitors keep publishing and your content ages. Six months is unfortunately the worst point to stop, because it is usually just before the work from months two and three matures. If budget is uncertain, a shorter and cheaper scope sustained for twelve months beats an ambitious one abandoned at month six.
Do you write the content or only tell us what to write?
Both are available. Starter tier includes briefs and you or your team write, which many clients prefer because they know the subject better than any agency will. Standard and Full include written content, typically two to four pages a month. Either way the brief specifies the query, the intent, the structure and the length, because the most common reason content fails is not bad writing but no clear idea of who was going to search for it.
Do you build backlinks, and are they safe?
We earn mentions through digital PR, genuine industry placements, and citation and directory hygiene. We do not buy links from vendors or networks. That is not purity: bought links work for a while and then turn into a cleanup project that costs more than the rankings earned. It does mean our link growth is slower than an agency selling fifty links a month, and if that is what you want to buy, we are the wrong choice and you should know that before signing.
Is SEO or Google Ads better for us right now?
If you need enquiries this quarter, Google Ads, without question. It starts the same day and you can switch it off. SEO is the better investment when you can fund at least twelve months and want the cost per enquiry to keep falling instead of resetting every month. Many clients run a small ads budget while SEO matures, which also tells you which keywords actually convert before you spend a year trying to rank for them. We would rather say this than sell you a retainer that disappoints you by month four.
How do you report, and what will I actually see?
Two pages a month. What changed on the site, with dates. Which pages and queries produced enquiries. What moved and what did not. What happens next month. Plus full access to Search Console and Analytics so you can check anything yourself rather than take our word for it. You will not get a forty page keyword position export, because in fifteen years nobody has ever read the second half of one.
Do we need local SEO as well?
If customers come to you, or you serve a defined area, local SEO is usually the larger part of the opportunity and sometimes the whole of it. The map pack sits above the organic results and is decided by different factors: your Google Business Profile, categories, proximity, reviews and citations. A clinic or a showroom should normally fix local before touching national rankings. Details on our local SEO services page.
Will AI search like ChatGPT replace Google search?
Not replace, but it is already taking clicks, and the measured effect is significant. Pew Research found users clicked a result in 8 percent of visits where Google showed an AI summary, against 15 percent where it did not, and just 1 percent clicked a citation inside the summary. The practical change is that being readable and citable by assistants is now separate work from ranking: structured data, clear direct answers, consistent entity information and third party corroboration. That is what AEO and GEO cover, and you can test your own page with our free AI visibility checker. Treat anyone claiming SEO is dead, or that nothing has changed, with equal suspicion.
Can you fix the damage from a previous SEO agency?
Usually, and the first step is working out what was actually done. Common findings: a toxic link profile from a cheap package, content spun at scale that now dilutes the site, hundreds of thin location pages, or simply nothing at all beyond reporting. We audit, tell you plainly which of those it is, and give you the cleanup cost separately from the growth work so you can see what you are paying to undo. If the honest finding is that twelve months of invoices bought nothing, we will say so in writing.
Do you work with clients outside Delhi NCR or outside India?
Yes. We are an SEO company in West Delhi, based in Vikaspuri, so if you want to sit down with an SEO agency in Vikaspuri rather than deal with one over email, that is available. We also work as an SEO company in Delhi NCR more broadly, in person across Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad, and remotely with clients in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur and Chandigarh, plus the UAE, UK, USA, Canada, Singapore and Australia. International targeting is its own discipline: see international SEO.
What do you need from us to start?
Read access to Google Search Console and Analytics, your website login or your developer contact, a list of your three or four most profitable services, and an honest answer on timeline and budget. The Search Console history is the most valuable thing you can give us, because it shows what Google already associates you with. If you do not have Search Console set up, that is itself a finding, and setting it up properly is the first thing we do.
