Corporate branding services in Delhi by PIXELS TRAIL

A founder asked me last year why one studio quoted him INR 8,000 for a logo and another quoted INR 1,80,000. He assumed one of them was lying.

Neither was. They were selling two completely different things that happen to share a name.

Here is what actually changes as the number goes up. These are market ranges across India in 2026, not our rate card, and USD figures are approximate.

In short

  • Below INR 15,000 you are usually buying assembly, often with stock artwork that is hard to trademark.
  • Most established Indian SMEs belong in the INR 75,000 to 2,00,000 range, where you get a system rather than a mark.
  • Insist on vector source files, single-colour versions and written ownership at any price.
  • Match the spend to what the logo has to carry, from a favicon to factory signage.

INR 2,000 to 15,000 (USD 25 to 180): Marketplace and Template

At this level you are buying execution, not thinking. Someone takes your brief, opens a library of shapes and typefaces, and assembles something that fits. Often the icon is licensed stock art, which means other businesses can legally use the same symbol.

What you typically get: one or two options, a couple of file formats, one or two revisions.

What you typically do not get: any strategy, originality you can protect, files that work for large-format printing, or a colour system.

The real risk here is not quality, it is ownership. Stock-based marks are difficult to register as trademarks, and a mark you cannot protect is a liability once the business grows.

INR 25,000 to 75,000 (USD 300 to 900): Experienced Freelancer

Now you are paying for a person with judgement. A good freelancer will ask about your business, produce original concepts and deliver proper vector files.

What you get: two to four original directions, several rounds of refinement, vector and raster files, usually a basic colour and type recommendation.

What you usually do not get: a strategy phase, extensive application design, or formal brand guidelines. Availability can also be a risk if the project runs long.

For a small business that needs a proper logo and nothing more, this range is often the sensible answer.

INR 75,000 to 3,50,000 (USD 900 to 4,200): Established Studio, Identity System

This is where most Indian SMEs and mid-market companies should be looking, and it is where our own work sits.

You are no longer buying a logo. You are buying a system: positioning input, an original mark tested at every size, a defined colour palette with print and screen values, licensed typography, logo variations for different backgrounds and formats, brand guidelines, and application to your core materials such as stationery and a company profile.

The difference this makes is practical rather than decorative. Your printer, your web developer and your sales team all get files that work without asking questions, and the brand stops drifting the moment three people start using it.

INR 5,00,000 and Above (USD 6,000+): Large Agency or Consultancy

Research, stakeholder interviews, multiple strategic routes, naming support, extensive guideline documents and rollout management across business units.

Appropriate for large corporates, groups with several brands, or companies where a brand decision affects hundreds of crores in revenue. Significantly over-scoped for a company doing a few crores.

Why the Same Logo Can Cost Ten Times More

Originality versus assembly

An original mark takes days of exploration. An assembled one takes an hour. Both look like a logo on a screen, and only one survives a trademark search.

Number of concepts and rounds

Three genuinely different directions cost more than one. Six rounds of refinement cost more than two. Check both numbers in any quote.

File deliverables

A JPG is not a logo. You need vector source files, single-colour versions, reversed versions and correctly sized digital exports. Cheap quotes often skip everything except a PNG.

Whether a system comes with it

Colour values, typography, spacing rules and usage guidelines are what stop your brand looking different on every document. This is usually the single biggest cost difference between tiers.

Who does the work

A senior designer with fifteen years of experience costs more per hour than a junior, and usually reaches a better answer in fewer rounds.

What You Should Insist On at Any Price

  • Vector source files in AI, EPS, SVG or PDF format
  • Single-colour and reversed versions for print, embroidery and dark backgrounds
  • Written confirmation of ownership transferring rights to your business
  • Confirmation that no stock or licensed artwork is embedded in the mark
  • Minimum size and clear space guidance, even if it is only one page

If a quote at any price level excludes ownership of source files, treat it as incomplete.

The Cost of Getting This Wrong Twice

The most expensive logo is the one you buy twice. I have watched businesses spend INR 6,000 at launch, print cards, signage and packaging, then discover two years later that the mark is unusable at small sizes or cannot be trademarked. The redesign costs INR 1,50,000, and reprinting everything costs more than the redesign.

If your business is genuinely testing an idea and might not exist in a year, spend little and move on. If you are building something you expect to still be running in five years, spend once and spend properly.

What Indian Buyers Get Wrong About Logo Pricing

Two mistakes come up again and again. The first is treating the logo as the whole brand. A logo on its own solves very little. What changes how a business is perceived is the logo plus a colour system, typography and consistent application across the website, catalogue and signage. Businesses that budget only for a mark, then use it with whatever fonts and colours each vendor picks, end up looking exactly as inconsistent as before.

The second mistake is buying on turnaround time. A designer who promises a finished logo in 24 hours is not exploring anything. They are picking. Sometimes the pick is fine, but you are paying for a decision that took an hour, and you should price it accordingly rather than treating speed as a bonus feature.

There is also a quieter cost worth naming: the time your own team spends. Every round of unclear feedback, every meeting where three people disagree about a colour, is your cost, not the designer’s. Projects with one decision-maker and a written brief finish faster and cheaper at every price level.

A Practical Rule

Match the spend to what the logo has to carry. A logo that appears on a phone screen and a visiting card has a small job. A logo going onto packaging, vehicles, factory signage and export catalogues has a large one, and errors there are expensive to correct.

For most established Indian SMEs, a properly built identity in the INR 75,000 to 2,00,000 range is the point where cost and consequence balance out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a good logo for under INR 10,000?

You can get a usable one, usually assembled from existing elements. What you are unlikely to get is originality you can protect legally or a system that keeps your brand consistent. For a business testing an idea that may be acceptable.

Does a more expensive logo perform better?

Not by itself. Price buys originality, correct file preparation and a system around the mark. Those things make the logo usable and protectable, which matters far more than how much was paid.

How many concepts should a designer show?

Two to four genuinely different directions is normal. Ten variations of the same idea is not choice, it is padding, and it usually means the brief was never settled.

Is the logo enough, or do I need a full identity?

If more than one person will produce material for your business, you need at least basic rules for colour, typography and logo usage. Without them the brand drifts within months.

Can a logo designed cheaply be trademarked later?

Sometimes, but stock or template-based marks often fail on distinctiveness or conflict with existing registrations. Ask in writing whether any licensed artwork was used before you file.

Do prices differ between Delhi, Mumbai and smaller cities?

Metro studios tend to sit higher and smaller-city studios lower, but the gap has narrowed considerably now that most design work is delivered remotely.
